Hartmut Becker (born December 4, 1949 in Dormagen ) is a publisher and agent for advertising artists. He lives and works in Hamburg.

Life

Hartmut Becker grew up in Dormagen, where his father Dietrich Becker managed the Pfeifer & Langen branch . After graduating from the Godesberger Pädagogium Otto Kühne School and a two-year study in Belgium it rose in 1974 in the journal Comixene of Andreas C. Knigge and Thilo Rex. In cooperation with Manfred Reinhardt, Becker founded the Cologne Comic Exchange in 1976. After he had moved from Cologne to Hanover, he founded the publishing house Edition Becker & Knigge with Andreas C. Knigge in 1979 . After the end of Comixene in 1981 and the bankruptcy of the publishing house in 1982, Hartmut Becker and Paul Derouet founded the Becker-Derouet agency in 1983 , which was dedicated to the representation of draftsmen (including Matthias Schultheiss ). In 1986 the company moved to Hamburg. After ten years of working together, Hartmut Becker and Paul Derouet parted ways professionally.

Hartmut Becker founded becker illustrators! , an agency for advertising artists. She represents u. a. Uwe de Witt, Marco Barrios, Ertugrul Edirne, Timo Wuerz and, since 2007, Hansrudi Wäscher , who received the prize for his life's work at the 2008 international comics salon in Erlangen. In 2004 Hartmut Becker and Bernd Mahler took over the organization of the North German Comic Exchange in Hamburg for three years . At the beginning of 2009 he founded the publishing house Comics etc. with Etsche Hoffmann-Mahler and Detlef Lorenz - Becker und Partner , which publishes, among other things, the stories of Hansrudi Wäscher.

In the 1980s, Hartmut Becker wrote numerous articles for the strip mirror , the speech bubble and other comic magazines .
