Paul Drechsel

Paul Drechsel (born October 31, 1944 in Saalfeld / Saale ) is a German cultural scientist .

Life

Paul Drechsel is a physicist and professor of ethnology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . His main focus areas are quantum theory, globalization , inter- and transcultural management, ethnic and nationalist mobilization, economic and socio-political transformation processes, intercultural communication, cognitive and socio-economic evolution, ethnolinguistics, diversity management, southern Africa, ethnicity, cultural , scientific and systems theory . Together with Henk Pauw , he devised the DP curve with which the evolution of societies can be recorded.

Paul Drechsel was born as the second son of the chemical technician Karl Drechsel and Elisabeth Drechsel, born. Seiler was born. He attended the Frankfurt-Höchst primary school from 1951–53, the Marienhausen boarding school near Rüdesheim from 1953–57 and the Marianum boarding school near Fulda from 1957–61 . Then he trained as a chemical laboratory technician. In second-chance education he got in 1968, the High School for order in April 1968 with the physics and mathematics study to begin. In 1973 he switched to ethnology , sociology and African studies . Drechsel obtained his doctorate in 1978. phil. and completed his habilitation in 1989, both in Mainz. Since 1979 he has been teaching at the Institute for Ethnology and African Studies . Research stays of several years led him to Greece , Zimbabwe and South Africa , where he was an election observer in April 1994 .
