Paul Federer

Paul Federer (born July 14, 1950 ; resident in Berneck ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ). From February 2010 to June 2017, he was a member of the government council of the canton of Obwalden and headed the building and spatial development department and, on his behalf, the education and culture department.

Life

Federer began his political career as a school councilor in Gossau . From 2002 to 2007 he was a councilor for the municipality of Sarnen . From 2008 to 2010 he was mayor of Sarnen. He headed the social and health department and from 2008 also the building department of the municipality of Sarnen.

In the election of a replacement for the resigned government councilor Hans Matter on November 29, 2009, Federer prevailed against Martin Odermatt ( SVP ) with 6,876 to 6,639 votes. His office as Government took place on 1 February 2010. In office year 2012/2013 was Federer Country governors (Vice-President of the Governing Council) and in the Official 2013/2014 Landammann (President of the Governing Council). He resigned at the end of the 2016/2017 year of office and was succeeded by Josef Hess , who was elected in December 2016 by silent election .

On September 18, 2014, Paul Federer was elected President by the plenary assembly of the Swiss Conference on Building, Planning and Environment Directors (BPUK).

Paul Federer is a qualified engineer FH / STV and lives with his wife in the municipality of Sarnen.
