Paul Ford

Paul Ford (born November 2, 1901 in Baltimore , Maryland , † April 12, 1976 in Mineola , New York ) was an American actor .

Life

Paul Ford started an apprenticeship as a carpenter, later made his master and opened his own carpentry business with his colleague John Mosch. In addition, he worked as a sideline puppeteer and puppeteer.

Ford remained in his profession for most of his life. He played his first film role in 1945 as a drinking cop in the crime film The House on 92nd Street . From then on, the local film studios gave him roles in which he mainly portrayed plump police officers or strict military men. In 1955, he played the role of Colonel Hall on comedian Phil Silvers ' Sergeant Bilko television show that made him famous overnight. Ford's breakthrough came in 1961 with the film Alfred Hitchcock presents: The Hat Box by Alfred Hitchcock . From then on he worked in Hollywood and shot many well-known films, some of which he had produced himself, especially in the 60s and 70s.

Ford, who was married to Eva Brown, with whom he had a son, died in Mineola, Long Island , of complications from a heart attack .
