Paul Gayrard

Paul Joseph Raymond Gayrard (born September 3, 1807 in Clermont-Ferrand , † July 22, 1855 in Enghien-les-Bains ) was a French sculptor .

Life

As the son of the sculptor Raymond Gerard, he was tutored by his father before he received further training from François Rude and Pierre Jean David d'Angers . Gayrard initially created mainly portrait busts and statuettes , which were exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1827 to 1855 . Of these, busts of the famous physicians Pierre Fidèle Bretonneau and Armand Trousseau are in the Museum of Tours . A bust of the Italian ballet dancer Fanny Cerrito is in the Museum of the Paris Opera . He created four evangelists for the Paris church of Ste-Clotilde .
