Paul Georg Hopmann (born July 8, 1930 in Cologne ; † December 8, 2006 ) was a German architect in the area of ​​the Cologne School .

Life and works

Hopmann studied at the TH Graz and the TH Karlsruhe . From 1960 he worked as an architect in Cologne . From 1963 to 1967 as an employee of Emil Steffann , he worked in his construction studio a. a. the competitions of the community centers Hl.Kreuz in Bad Godesberg (1963), St.Winfried in Bonn (1963) and participated in the construction of the church Maria vom Frieden in Dormagen (1963).

He built next to numerous houses a. a. the churches of St. Adelheid in Cologne-Neubrück (1968), St. Theresia in Düsseldorf-Garath (1971), St. Elisabeth in Cologne-Pesch (1980), the St. Bonifatius kindergarten in Cologne-Nippes . He also expanded and rebuilt the Haus Altenberg educational facility (1976). Two of his designs were awarded the Cologne Architecture Prize , one with the BDA Prize Düsseldorf.

Hopmann died in 2006 at the age of 76. His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 64a).
