St. Theresa of the Child Jesus (Düsseldorf)
St. Theresia vom Kinde Jesu is a Catholic church in the northeast of the Garath district of Düsseldorf . It is consecrated to St. Theresa von Liseux and has been a branch church of the parish of St. Matthew since 2007
history
The parish was founded in 1967 and a year later the church building association was founded . The church was built from 1970 to 1971 according to plans by the architect Paul Georg Hopmann and was consecrated on October 3, 1971. The parish center , which was completed in 1969, was followed by the kindergarten and the parish library in 1972. On January 1st, 2007 the parish merged with St. Norbert to form the new parish of St. Matthew.
architecture
Like the surrounding buildings, the church was built primarily from concrete . The church towers over the surrounding community center. The daylight is illuminated by a narrow ribbon of windows under the ceiling. The narrow tower stands as a campanile next to the church. It has a rectangular floor plan, the edges are rounded.
organ
The organ from 1973 comes from the organ builder Klaus Becker in Kupfermühle (today: Michael Becker Orgelbau ). The slider chests -instrument has 13 registers on two manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
