Paul Gutjahr (born November 1, 1942 in Bern ) is a Swiss FIA commissioner, former entrepreneur and racing driver . He has long been President of the FIA's Hill Climbing Commission and, following his status as an FIA observer, has been appointed FIA Chief Commissioner at many hill climbs.

Motorsport

In the late 1960s , Paul Gutjahr began driving Alfa Romeo , Lancia , Lotus and Porsche , most recently with a March - Formula 3 . In the early 1970s he organized numerous events while he was chairman of the Bern Automobile Club (ACS). He also chaired the organizing committee of the Swiss Grand Prix between 1980 and 1982.

From 1980 to 2005 he was president of Switzerland's national sports sovereignty , Club Auto Sport Suisse . He has been sports commissioner at various international events since 1995, including Formula 3000 and Formula 1 .

In 2002 he was supposed to be appointed chief commissioner for all Formula 1 races by Max Mosley ; but he gave up for professional reasons, because he could not be absent from his billposting company for so long. He volunteered at the races in Brazil, Monaco, France and England.

Since 2012 he has been working full-time in Formula 1 as a sports commissioner and is centrally responsible for some decisions.
