Paul Henggeler

Paul Henggeler (also Hengeler ; born June 10, 1773 in Unterägeri ; † October 21, 1864 in Nuolen ; Catholic , entitled to live in Unterägeri) was a Swiss poet .

Life

Paul Henggeler was born on June 10, 1773 in Unterägeri as the son of Johann Josef Henggeler. Henggeler attended high school in Milan from 1789 and received philosophy lessons at the Collegium Helveticum . He then completed a degree in theology in Lucerne before being ordained priest in 1798 .

As a result, he provided pastoral care as vicar and chaplain in various places in the cantons of Zug and Schwyz . He then served as field chaplain of the 2nd Swiss Battalion in Holland between 1823 and 1830 . After his return he took over the pastor's office in Nuolen in April 1830, where he founded a school and devoted himself to entertaining the guests in the local bath hotel with humor and narration.

Paul Henggeler wrote humorous poems and epigrams on topics of everyday life. He died on October 21, 1864, four months after he had turned 91 in Nuolen.
