Hildenbrand, who was also called the “painter of the Swabian Alb ”, created mainly naturalistic oil paintings and watercolors , but also abstract graphics , glass paintings and works of art in fresco technology are part of his oeuvre. The Lake Constance and ocean pictures, mainly watercolors, bear witness to the intensive study of water in motion. Scented and colorful, the watercolors in particular prove in their transparency that Paul Hildenbrand was able to convincingly convey his statement with the most economical means. Hildenbrand also created numerous landscape and animal pictures as well as still lifes . His landscapes, composed in oil, are strongly influenced by impressionism . In the mid-1960s he turned to the expressionist and surrealist styles for a short time . Study trips to France , Spain , Italy , Hungary , Scandinavia and the USA broadened his perspective and deepened his artistic maturity. Hildenbrand became known at home and abroad through art exhibitions in Germany, Monaco and the USA.
