Paul Horan

Paul Horan OCarm (born October 17, 1962 in Drangan , County Tipperary , Ireland ) is an Irish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Mutare .

Life

Paul Horan initially worked for the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants of Ireland before joining the Carmelite Order. He studied at Milltown College in Dublin from 1990 to 1995 . He made perpetual profession on October 15, 1995 and was ordained a priest on June 7, 1997 .

After further studies, he obtained a Master of Arts in Spiritual Theology from the Catholic University of America in 2001 . In the same year he went to Zimbabwe as a missionary , where he first completed language courses in Shona and missionary internships. Until 2004 he directed the postulate and then until 2006 the novitiate of the Carmelites in Rusape . After two years in pastoral care, he became director of the Catholic school Kriste Mambo in Rusape in 2008 .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Mutare on May 28, 2016 . He received his episcopal ordination on August 27 of the same year.
