The Diocese of Mutare ( Latin Dioecesis Mutarensis , English Diocese of Mutare ) is in Zimbabwe situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Mutare .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Umtali on February 2, 1953 from cessions of the Vicariate Apostolic Fort Victoria and Salisbury and was subordinated to the Archdiocese of San Antonio as a suffragan diocese. Pastoral care and evangelization were given to the Carmelites from Ireland .

On February 15, 1957, she was raised to a diocese that was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Salisbury as a suffragan diocese. It took its current name on June 25, 1982.
