Alexio Churu Muchabaiwa

Alexio Churu Muchabaiwa (born June 21, 1939 in Wedza ) is a Zimbabwean clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Mutare .

Life

Alexio Churu Muchabaiwa was ordained a priest on August 24, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Umtali on November 5, 1981 . He received his episcopal consecration on February 21 of the following year, the former bishop of Umtali, Donal Raymond Lamont OCarm ; Co- consecrators were Patrick Fani Chakaipa , Archbishop of Salisbury , and Tobias Wunganayi Chiginya , Bishop of Gweru .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 28, 2016.
