Patrick Fani Chakaipa

Patrick Fani Chakaipa (born June 25, 1932 in Mhondoro , Zimbabwe ; † April 8, 2003 ) was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Harare in Zimbabwe.

Life

Chakaipa was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Salisbury on August 15, 1965 . On October 15, 1972 he was appointed auxiliary bishop there and at the same time appointed titular bishop of Rucuma . The episcopal ordination donated him on January 14, 1973 the Archbishop of Salisbury Francis William Markall ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Bulawayo Adolf Schmitt CMM and the Bishop of Gwelo Aloysius Haene SMB .

On May 31, 1976, Chakaipa succeeded his predecessor Markall as Archbishop of Salisbury. On June 25, 1982, the Archdiocese of Salisbury was renamed Harare.
