Paul David Humphreys (born February 27, 1960 in London ) is a British keyboardist , singer and songwriter . He is best known as a co-founder of OMD .

Life

Humphreys played in various bands in the 1970s before forming Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark with Andy McCluskey in 1978 . Humphreys has written on some of the band's most successful tracks, including Souvenir , Locomotion , Talking Loud and Clear, and (Forever) Live and Die . He occasionally took over the vocals, including the hit singles Souvenir and (Forever) Live and Die . In 1989, after artistic differences, he left the band together with Malcolm Holmes and Martin Cooper , which McCluskey successfully continued alone. The three of them founded The Listening Pool , but were only able to present their first album in 1994 due to contractual difficulties. The commercial success failed to materialize, after which the band broke up.

Humphreys has worked with the German singer Claudia Brücken since 1996, and both were a couple in private (until the beginning of 2013). In 2004 they founded the synth-pop project Onetwo and released the album Instead in 2007 . In the same year, Humphreys reunited with McCluskey and in 2010 the first OMD album together since 1986 was released.
