Paul Jenni

Paul Jenni (born June 3, 1923 in Liestal ; † February 25, 2017 ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ) and author of books for young people.

Life

Jenni graduated from schools in Frenkendorf , Liestal and Trey , and then attended the teachers' seminar in Schiers . He was a primary school teacher in Eptingen and Birsfelden , between 1956 and 1957 he worked at the ICRC in Budapest and was a student at the University of Basel in the subjects of German, history and geography.

From 1961 to 1975 Jenni was Baselbieter school inspector and from 1967 to 1969 Baselbieter SP district administrator . From 1968 to 1970 he sat in the council and from 1970 to 1975 he was mayor in Frenkendorf. As Regierungsrat 1975-1987 Jenni built the Erziehungsdirektion from the education and culture management.

In 1975 Jenni signed the first intercantonal university contract with Basel-Stadt , which was expanded in 1986. In 1978 he implemented a vocational training law and in 1979 a new school law .

In 1970 Jenni received the literary prize of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft for his books for young people .
