Eptingen ( Swiss German : Eptige ) is a municipality in the Waldenburg district of the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland .
geography
Eptingen lies at the upper end of the Diegtertal and is completely framed by the Jura folds .
Eptingen borders Diegten in the north, Läufelfingen in the northeast, Hauenstein-Ifenthal ( SO ) in the southeast, Hägendorf ( SO ) in the south, Langenbruck in the southwest and Bennwil in the northwest .
history
Archaeological finds show that the area around Eptingen was already populated in the 7th century. However, the actual settlement took place in the early Middle Ages. In 1145 the place was mentioned as "Ebittingen", 1189 as "Etingen" and 1194 as "Eptinwin". The predominance lay with the Bishop of Basel , who gave the village as a fief to the Lords of Eptingen. In 1487 it was bought by the city of Basel . In 1803 Eptingen came to the Waldenburg district.
coat of arms
Eptingen has had an official coat of arms since 1938. It is a lying, black eagle with a red tongue and red fangs on a gold background. This is the coat of arms of the Lords of Eptingen and is also used in Pratteln .
economy
The source of the Eptinger mineral water from the family company Mineralquelle Eptingen AG , which is known throughout Switzerland, and its bottling plant are located here. However, the administration is in Sissach . The company has been bottling mineral water since 1900, employs around 75 people and has a production capacity of 400,000 - 500,000 bottles per day.

The August Suter Museum contains the artistic estate of the sculptor August Suter . The visit is possible after prior registration with the municipal administration.
