Paul Junker (born March 1952 in Hütschenhausen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was from 2009 to 2017 District Administrator of the rural district of Kaiserslautern .

Life

Paul Junker was born in March 1952 in Hütschenhausen. After graduating from high school in Landstuhl , Paul Junker did his military service in Zweibrücken . A teacher training course in Landau was followed by more than 20 years of activity as a teacher at the school for people with learning disabilities in Kusel . From September 2000 to December 2009 Junker worked as the full-time first alderman of the Ramstein-Miesenbach community , immediately afterwards, until December 2017, as district administrator for the district of Kaiserslautern .

Paul Junker is married and has two grown sons.

Paul Junker has been involved in local politics on a voluntary basis since 1974:

  • Member of the Hütschenhausen municipal council 1974–2000
  • Mayor of Hütschenhausen and member of the Ramstein-Miesenbach municipal council from 1979 to 1989 and from 1994 to 2000
  • Member of the district council from 1984 to 2017

Paul Junker joined the CDU at the age of 21 and in 1979, at the age of 27, became Germany's youngest local mayor in his home town of Hütschenhausen . In 2000 he was elected full-time alderman of the Ramstein-Miesenbach community and thus ended his work as a teacher. A year later he ran for the first time as district administrator in the Kaiserslautern district and was defeated by incumbent Rolf Künne (SPD). In the 2009 election, Junker got the required votes in the first ballot.

He was appointed district administrator on December 9, 2009. On December 9, 2017, Paul Junker retired.

During his time as district administrator, projects such as the preparation of the nationwide broadband supply, the restructuring and further development of the waste management company "ZAK" as well as the creation of a waste management concept together with the city of Kaiserslautern, as well as the start of the complete renovation of the listed administration building, the creation of a guide for improving the Everyday cycling, joining the municipal debt relief fund of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate or founding an energy company together with the Pfalzwerke. His activities also focused on economic development, the best possible construction maintenance of the schools in district sponsorship as well as the maintenance and expansion of the district roads. He supported the two orchestras in the district, the symphonic wind orchestra (SBO) and the symphony orchestra (SOKL), as well as the district music school and the annual "Musik im Kreis" series of events.

Sports

In 1978 Paul Junker founded the 1st BC West Palatinate in Hütschenhausen, which later renamed itself to the 1st BCW Hütschenhausen. For many years he was chairman of the club, but also youth leader and youth coach. He led the youth teams to several different championships up to the German team championship. Some players from this team were appointed to the German national team. As the sporting director of the club, he looked after the first team, which played very successfully in the 2nd Bundesliga for several years.
