Paul Kiss (born September 30, 1947 in Oberpullendorf ) is an Austrian secondary school teacher and politician ( ÖVP ). Kiss was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1989 and 2002 .

education and profession

Kiss attended elementary and secondary school in Oberpullendorf from 1953 to 1961 and subsequently switched to the teacher training college in Eisenstadt , which he graduated from in 1966 with the Matura . He was a teacher at the Piringsdorf elementary school from 1966 to 1967 and a teacher at the Stoob secondary school between 1967 and 1979 . In between he did military service from 1969 to 1970. Kiss was also a teacher at the Polytechnic Course in Oberpullendorf from 1979 to 1989.

politics

Kiss was the staff representative for the compulsory school teachers in the Oberpullendorf district from 1975 to 1979 and was elected mayor of Oberpullendorf in 1977. He was also regional chairman of the ÖAAB Burgenland from 1991 and between 1985 and 1988 deputy chairman of the Burgenland Garbage Association.

On November 7, 1989, Kiss entered the National Council as a representative of the ÖVP, and in 1990 he resigned as mayor. In the National Council election in 2002, the long-time security spokesman for the ÖVP parliamentary club ran for first place in the Burgenland regional constituency and in the Burgenland Süd regional constituency. However, since Franz Glaser obtained significantly more preferential votes in the election, Kiss left the National Council on December 19, 2002. As a result, in 2003 Kiss resigned as chairman of the ÖAAB.
