Paul Kluckhohn

Paul Kluckhohn (born April 10, 1886 in Göttingen , † May 20, 1957 in Tübingen ) was a German German scholar and literary historian.

Life

Kluckhohn was a son of the late historian August von Kluckhohn . He received his doctorate in 1909 from the University of Göttingen with a historical thesis on ministerialism in south-east Germany from the tenth to the thirteenth centuries and completed his habilitation in 1913 at the University of Münster .

In 1925 he received an extraordinary professorship at the Technical University in Danzig , was appointed to the University of Vienna in 1927 and finally worked as a full professor at the University of Tübingen from 1930 .

Kluckhohn dealt primarily with the German Romanticism and the Goethe era , he was "national", but kept a certain distance from National Socialism .

Kluckhohn was one of the co-founders of the German quarterly journal for literary studies .
