Paul Lanneau

Paul Lanneau (born July 22, 1925 in Anderlecht , † January 26, 2017 in Brussels ) was a Belgian Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Mechelen-Brussels .

Life

Paul Lanneau was ordained a priest on July 24, 1949 . Until 1950 he was a professor at the St. Peter's College in Leuven . After serving as a pastor in various parishes for the next twenty years, he was appointed coordinator for charitable pastoral care in the Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels in 1970.

On February 14, 1982 he was appointed titular bishop of Tusuros and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Mechlin-Brussels by Pope John Paul II . The Archbishop of Mechlin-Brussels, Godfried Danneels , donated him the episcopal ordination on March 20 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Bruges , Emiel-Jozef De Smedt , the Bishop of Liège , Guillaume Marie van Zuylen , the Bishop of Tournai , Jean Huard , and Auxiliary Bishop Paul Constant Schoenmaekers from Mechlin-Brussels.

On March 20, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

He was Grand Prior and Honorary Grand Prior of the Belgian Lieutenancy of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
