Paul Lorenz (born August 31, 1896 in Sulzbach / Saar , † November 16, 1952 in Hausham ) was a Saarland politician ( KPD ) and functionary.

The miner's son worked in a mine as Sulzbacher Hauer . He was a member of the Saarland KPD and, after attending a course at the Dresden party school, got involved first as an organ leader (1928) and later as a Polleiter (1930–1933) in the Saar district leadership. In 1932 he was elected to the last regional council of the Saar area .

In 1933 there were disputes between him and his party in relation to the action unit , which is why he was excluded from the district leadership in 1934 and dismissed as a KPD employee. In the run-up to the Saar referendum in 1935, Lorenz campaigned - in contrast to the KPD - for the Saar area to be incorporated into the German Reich. After the vote, he signed a public appeal in support of Hitler.

From 1937 he was again working as a tiller ( Freiburg im Breisgau , St. Georgen in the Black Forest ) until he was no longer fit for work due to an accident at work. After the war he took over positions in the Baden trade union federation and IG Bergbau . Lorenz died during a district conference.
