Paul Lorenz (graphic designer)
Paul Lorenz (born March 2, 1911 in Schönberg (Cunewalde) , † 2011 in Munich ) was a German painter , graphic artist and illustrator .
Live and act
His talent for drawing was already evident in his childhood. He completed an apprenticeship in lithography in Bautzen . After the apprenticeship, study trips to France and Italy followed . He was a participant in the Second World War . The artist became a three-year American prisoner of war combined with a three-year forced residency in Missouri . There he founded and ran a painting school in the camp. After returning home, Lorenz worked briefly in Saalfeld as a painter and graphic artist. In 1948 he opened a graphics office in Heidenheim an der Brenz , which designed advertising posters and illustrations for various companies, associations, organizations, etc. Lorenz also illustrated books for young people, most of which were published by Schneider-Verlag. The artist came to Munich in 1954 through commissions for the Osram company , where he ran a graphics office. Lorenz died very old at the age of 100 in Munich. The artist refused to exhibit his works throughout his life.
Lorenz was married and had a daughter.
