Paul Ludwig Kowalczewski (born August 25, 1865 in Mieltschin (today Mielżyn ), Kingdom of Prussia , † May 9, 1910 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Kowalczewski studied from 1895 for three years at the Berlin Academy of the Arts . His work mainly included busts and Art Nouveau sculptures made of bronze with profane depictions of the working population, but also warriors, archers, victory poses and occasionally birds. Between 1899 and 1906 he regularly showed his work at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition .

family

The artist's brother, Karl Kowalczewski (1867–1927), was also a sculptor. Her sister Dorota married the mayor of Wroclaw , Paul Matting .
