from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Müller (* 1948 ) is a German physicist .

Life

Müller studied physics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Erlangen and received his doctorate there in 1980. From 1980 to 1987 he worked at the Technical University of Munich, where he also completed his habilitation in 1994 . After 1987 he worked at the Walther Meißner Institute for Low Temperature Research . In 1995 he was appointed to the chair for experimental physics at the University of Erlangen. In 2013, Müller retired.

In his research, Müller has dealt with various aspects of superconductivity , for example with high-temperature superconductors and superconducting sensors , with ferroelectrics , graphene as well as molecular magnets and nanomagnets. Among other things, he was involved in the DFG priority programs "SPP 1157: Integrated electroceramic functional structures" and "SPP 1459: Graphene" as well as in the research group "FOR 945: Nanomagnets: from synthesis to interaction with surfaces to function".
