Paul Mayer (born May 3, 1873 in Freiburg ; † June 21, 1955 there ; legal domicile in Bramois (merged with Sitten in 1968 ) and Freiburg) was a Swiss entrepreneur .

Life

Family and education

The Catholic baptized Paul Mayer, son of the iron merchant Joseph Mayer and his wife Marie-Françoise née Kaiser, older brother of the entrepreneur Jean-Charles Mayer, graduated from the technical department of the St. Michael College in Freiburg, then a private school in Lucerne . After his school education, Mayer completed a two-year internship at the iron dealer Jeuch in Baden .

Paul Mayer was married to Léonie Joséphine, the daughter of the master butcher Wilhelm Vogt. He died in June 1955 at the age of 82 in his hometown of Freiburg.

Professional background

Paul Mayer joined his father's company after completing his training. After starting a company for building materials , he and his brother Jean-Charles founded the Fabrique de fourneaux et potagers Charles Mayer et Cie. In 1904, which was renamed Zaehringia SA in 1908 and Sarina SA in 1919. The company, which employed over a hundred workers, not only produced stoves, but also radiators and refrigerators. In 1955 the management of the company was transferred to his son Paul junior.
