Paul Munzinger

Paul W. Munzinger (born May 1, 1951 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German underwater photographer , author and freelance journalist .

Life

Munzinger worked as an architect and graduate engineer before turning his hobby diving into a profession and becoming an underwater photographer and freelance journalist.

From 1980 to 1997 he was the owner and manager of the Freiburg diving center, the Freiburg diving school and the travel agency Amphibia Tours. Since 1997 he has worked as a freelance journalist in the areas of diving, travel and underwater photography for various national and international magazines. He is also occasionally a tour guide for various tour operators.

Munzinger received over 60 national and international awards for his underwater pictures until 1997 and counts among others. a. to the ten "top photographers" according to Spiegel Online . He has worked on more than two dozen books on diving and travel. By 2015 Munzinger had over 12,300 dives in his logbooks and was represented with reports in various magazines, e. B. in diving , underwater , Atlantis , Geo and National Geographic .

Munzinger operates the production company UW-Media-Produktion and u. a. since 2011 the website www.100-beste-tauchreviere.de. Since the beginning of 2015 he has been producing the online magazine divingEurope together with Frank Schneider .

Munzinger is a board member with the Limnology Working Group (AGL) Oberrhein e. V. for the promotion of environmental protection through the protection, maintenance and revitalization of spring, floodplain and other waters, especially in the southern Upper Rhine region .

He lives with his wife in the Freiburg district of Waltershofen in a house he designed himself.
