Paul Nau

Paul Nau OSB (born April 12, 1901 in Nantes , † March 28, 1984 in Solesmes ) was a French Catholic theologian.

Career

Nau studied theology in the major seminary in Nantes and in the Séminaire Pontifical Français ( Gallicum ) in Rome. In 1926 he was ordained a priest and taught after his promotion to Dr. theol. at the Jesuit college in Nantes. In 1930 he entered the congregation of the Missionnaires diocesains de l´Immaculée Conception. In 1941 he joined the Benedictines in Solesmes. There he taught sacramental theology from 1945 to 1970.

Act

On behalf of the Abbot of Solesmes, Dom Prou, he wrote vota and consilia for the Second Vatican Council. He worked for the Coetus Internationalis Patrum . From 1963 to 1980 he was superior of the Benedictine Sisters of Argentan. From 1971 onwards he was the spiritual director of the Notre-Dame de la Paix Federation.

Nau contributed to the magazine La Pensée catholique and initiated the series Les enseignements pontificaux , which appeared in 17 volumes.
