Paul Otto (politician)

Paul Otto (born May 21, 1903 in Ulm , † January 24, 1979 in Georgsmarienhütte ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was first in the zone advisory board of the British zone and then both in the appointee state parliaments of Hanover and then of Lower Saxony. From 1947 to 1948 and again from 1955 to 1963 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Otto first attended elementary school and then a grammar school in Arnsberg in Westphalia. In 1923 he graduated from high school and then started as an apprentice at Dresdner Bank . After completing his apprenticeship, he worked in industry for six years until he began studying law in Bonn and Cologne in 1928 . He finished his studies in 1933 with a legal traineeship, and a year later he did his doctorate at the University of Cologne with Hans Carl Nipperdey . He then worked for an auditor for a short time. From 1936 he was a lawyer at a company in Osnabrück . After the Second World War he was promoted to the company's board of directors in 1947. From 1946 to 1948 he was a member of the Zone Advisory Council for the British Zone and then until 1949 a member of the Economic Council for the United Economic Area .

On August 23, 1946, Otto became a member of the Hanoverian Landtag , of which he was a member until October 29, 1946. During this time he was Vice President of the Appointed Hanover State Parliament and Chairman of the Committee on Labor Administration. From December 9, 1946 to March 28, 1947 he was a member of the Appointed Lower Saxony State Parliament. He was a member of the elected state parliament in the first electoral period from April 20, 1947 to March 10, 1948. In the third and fourth electoral terms he was again a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from May 6, 1955 to May 5, 1963.
