Paul Perdrizet

Paul Perdrizet (born July 22, 1870 in Montbéliard , † June 4, 1938 in Nancy ) was a French classical archaeologist .

Perdrizet studied since 1890 at the École normal supérieure . From 1893 to 1897 he was a member of the École française d'Athènes . He undertook numerous research trips, for example to Macedonia and Asia Minor (1895), to Cyprus , Syria and Armenia Lesser (1896), to England (1897–98) and again to Macedonia (1899–1900). From 1900 he taught at the University of Nancy , initially Greek, from 1909 he was Professor of Classical Archeology and Greek there. From 1919 to 1935 he taught as a professor of archeology at the University of Strasbourg . Since 1923 he was a corresponding, since 1934 a full member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres .

In 1906 he married Lucille Gallé, a daughter of Émile Gallé . Together with his widow Henriette Gallé-Grimm, he ran the famous glass factory Etablissements Gallé .
