Paul Kerry Perkins II (* 16th November 1994 in Mesa, Arizona ) is an American American football player. He played college football for the University of California, Los Angeles and played in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants and Detroit Lions as a running back . He is currently a free agent .

High school

Paul Perkins attended Chandler High School in Chandler , Arizona. In his freshman year of high school, Perkins scored 270 yards of space for two touchdowns.

In his senior year of high school, he even made it to the All-State First Team with 1,297 yards and 20 touchdowns. In addition, he caught eleven passes for 105 yards and one touchdown. In the same year Perkins also set a school record in the hurdles over 300m (37.35 seconds).

college

After high school, Perkins attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In his third year, Perkins ran for 1,575 yards. This was the second most yards in UCLA history after DeShaun Foster in 2001.

In 2015, now as co-captain of the team, Perkins recorded 1,343 yards and a total of 15 touchdowns (14 rushing, 1 receiving). At the end of the season he was listed as an all-time leading receiver in the running back position of UCLA with a total of 80 catches during the season.

NFL

Perkins was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round in the fifth round in the 2016 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract for $ 2.59 million with the Giants, including a signing bonus of $ 252,548.

Perkins started in 14 games of the season and came to 456 rushing yards (4.1 yards on average). He couldn't score a touchdown.

Even in his second season, Perkins did not manage a touchdown. After spending the entire 2018 season on the Injured Reserve List , the Giants put him on the waiver list after two games of the 2019 season in which he was not featured . The Detroit Lions then signed Perkins. He played four games for the Lions. He then spent a short time in the Practice Squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens .

Personal

His father Paul Bruce Perkins and his uncle Don Perkins also played professional football in the NFL. His uncle was able to stay in the league for 8 years.
