Paul Römer (ophthalmologist)

Paul Römer (born February 13, 1873 in Neundorf (Anhalt) , † April 29, 1937 in Bonn ) was a German ophthalmologist.

Life

Paul Römer graduated from high school Carolinum Bernburg in 1892 . He studied medicine at the University of Jena , the Royal University of Greifswald and the Friedrichs University Halle . After the state examination in 1897 he became an assistant at the eye clinics of the Hessian Ludwig University and the Julius Maximilians University . He completed his habilitation in Würzburg in 1901 and became an associate professor there . In 1907 he went to Greifswald and became director of the local eye clinic. During the First World War, medical officer of the Landwehr, he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class. In 1917 he was rector of the University of Greifswald. In 1921 he took up the chair at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1927 he became a member of the Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten .
