Paul Raebel

Paul Alfred Raebel (born June 12, 1906 in Breslau ; † May 22, 1980 in Hanover ) was a German SS-Hauptsturmführer , head of the Kamionki forced labor camp and a convicted war criminal .

Life

Raebel was the son of a wood sculptor . After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and became a construction and machine fitter. On September 1, 1932, he joined the NSDAP (membership number 1,294,384) and SS . From March 1936 he worked in children's hospitals. In August 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . From January 7, 1940 he was a specialist in the special service in Lublin , most recently a special service company commander. From February 1941 he was used as a special service advisor in the Radom district . On October 21, 1941 he was transferred to the SSPF Lemberg , where he worked as a Jewish advisor. He was also appointed head of the Kamionki Forced Labor Camp. After the liquidation of the camp on August 1, 1943, he was guard service leader of the ZAl Krakau-Plazsow . At the beginning of 1945 he was in the SS administration school in Arolsen . On March 29, 1945 he was taken prisoner of war.

After the war he lived under the false name Peter Hering . On July 15, 1966 he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Stuttgart Regional Court. In 1976 he was released from prison.
