Paul Slovic

Paul Slovic (born May 26, 1938 in Chicago ) is an American psychologist . He is a professor of psychology at the University of Oregon . Slovic is a leading researcher in the field of risk perception .

Life

Paul Slovic studied psychology at Stanford University ( Bachelor 1959). At the University of Michigan , he received his Masters degree (1962) as a Ph.D. (1964) PhD in psychology. He then conducted research at the Oregon Research Institute from 1964 to 1976 and at Decision Research from 1976 to 1986. He has been Professor at the University of Oregon and Director of Decision Research since 1986.

In 2015 Slovic was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 2016 to the National Academy of Sciences .

In particular, Slovic's research focuses on the specialist areas of decision making , risk perception, judgment, compassion and genocide .
