After his apprenticeship as assistant director to Erich Neuberg and Hermann Lanske on ORF in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Paul Stockmeier worked as a freelance TV director and screenwriter until his death, primarily for the ORF , but also for other broadcasters. For years, Stockmeier also oversaw ORF series such as Guitar for All (with Prof. Karl Scheit ), the theater magazine Your appearance, please! (with Heinz Fischer-Karwin ), We play the recorder or open our eyes, open our ears: Helmi is here! Stockmeier also directed numerous Austrian theater productions on TV, including the Löwinger stage (between 1967 and 1972).
