Paul Sydow

Paul Sydow (born November 1, 1851 in Callies ( Pomerania ), † February 26, 1925 in Sophienstädt ) was a German botanist and mycologist . His author's abbreviation is “ P. Syd. "

Paul Sydow was a teacher in Berlin. He was interested in all forms of cryptogams . His achievements in the field of mycology were diverse. Together with his son Hans Sydow , he published a monograph on mushrooms with over 1000 pages. His extensive collection burned in 1943 in Berlin. A subspecies of Bryum capillare received the addition "sydowii".
