Paul Trede

Paul Trede (born August 19, 1829 in Brockdorf , † June 29, 1908 in Bremen ) was a German typesetter and author.

Life

Paul Trede, son of the day laborer Marx Trede and his wife Marie Sachau, grew up in the simplest of circumstances, attended the village school and worked for farmers from the age of ten to help support the family. In 1844 he began a five-year apprenticeship as a printer at the Itzehoer Wochenblatt of Senator Peter Samuel Schönfeldt. At the same time, he continued his self-study in foreign languages, history and German literature and published his first works in regional newspapers.

During his apprenticeship he was drafted into the Schleswig-Holstein Army and fought in the 10th Schleswig-Holstein Infantry Battalion, later he became a member of the Fröhlich Patrol .

In the spring of 1852 Trede went on a journey through Germany and Switzerland for three years . After returning in February 1855, he worked again in the printing company and later became an authorized signatory there for the Itzehoer Nachrichten . In 1894 he was awarded the Order of the Crown, 4th class. In 1898 he moved to Bremen.

In 1993 Waltraut Feldtmann published selected works by Paul Trede.
