Paul Wilhelm Tübbecke (born December 12, 1848 in Berlin , † January 30, 1924 in Weimar ) was a German etcher, draftsman and landscape painter.

Life

Tübbecke first studied at the Berlin Academy and then in Weimar with Ferdinand Pauwels and Max Schmidt . In 1873 he was a student of Ludwig Richter in Dresden and from 1874 to 1880 with Theodor Hagen at the Grand Ducal Art School in Weimar . His work mainly includes paintings and etchings of landscapes. It points to an influence by the landscape painter Karl Buchholz . He is a typical representative of the Weimar School of Painting and dedicated himself in particular to depicting motifs from Weimar's surroundings. Tübbecke was appointed professor at the Weimar Art School in 1902.

Exhibitions (selection)

The oil painting Vorfrühling (motif on the Ilm near Weimar) was exhibited at the Munich annual exhibition in 1890 in room 15.
The early spring could also be seen at the International Art Exhibition in Berlin in 1891 together with the oil painting Autumn Forest in Room 10.
