Paul van Son

Paul van Son (born August 16, 1953 in Leiden ) is a Dutch energy manager.

Life

Van Son studied from 1971 to 1977 at the Technical University of Delft (engineering and energy management), also in the post-graduate program at the Nyenrode Business Universiteit (corporate governance).

He worked as a developer for network management at Siemens , as head of network management at the Dutch energy supplier SEP (later Tennet ) and as manager for Europe and Africa at the energy consultant Energy and Control Consultants (USA), which KEMA acquired in 1994. From 1998 he was Managing Director of Essent in the field of sustainable energy, CEO of Essent Energy Trading and Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Essent GmbH in Düsseldorf. In 2009 he became managing director of Dii GmbH in Munich (also known as Desertec Industrial Initiative ). In 2015 he became Country Chairman of innogy SE for the MENA region and Turkey at the Dubai location .

Van Son is the founder and honorary president of the European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET). He is chairman of the Energy4All Foundation in the Netherlands , a non-profit organization that promotes decentralized energy systems in Africa.
