Pauli Aapeli Janhonen (born October 20, 1914 in Jyväskylä ; † November 30, 2007 there ) was a Finnish sports shooter .
successes
Pauli Janhonen took part in three Olympic Games . 1948 he finished in London with the Free Rifle Three Positions in more than 300 meters behind Emil Grünig second place and thus won the silver medal. Four years later he finished the competition in this discipline in Helsinki in twelfth place. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , he competed in a three-position battle with the small bore rifle over 50 m, which he finished in 13th place.
Janhonen secured a total of 28 medals at world championships between 1939 and 1974 and was world champion nine times. In 1939 he won his first world championship title in Lucerne when he took first place with the small-bore team in standing position. Eight years later, he won the second title in a three-position fight with the free rifle in Stockholm , which he followed in 1949 in Buenos Aires with gold medals in the three-position fight and in the standing position with the small-bore rifle. He also won the team competitions in the three-position fight with the free rifle and with the small caliber. Also in the three-position fight, Janhonen was again world champion in Cairo in 1962 , each with the standard rifle and the army rifle. He won his ninth title in Thun in 1974 in a lying position with the small-bore team. In addition to the nine gold medals, Janhonen also won nine silver and ten bronze medals.
