Waldemar Kampf (born July 5, 1913 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † 1988 ) was a German historian and literary historian.

Life

Kampf studied history, literary history and art history at the Albertus University in Königsberg and the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . After the state examination, he wrote his doctoral thesis with Walther Ziesemer . In 1941 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In the post-war period in Germany he was a lecturer at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1962 he moved to the new Karlsruhe University of Education , which appointed him professor in 1968. In 1964 he wrote an extensive article about George Frederick I (Brandenburg-Ansbach-Kulmbach) , who after 1578 had brought order to the confused conditions of the Duchy of Prussia . Committed to the life and work of Ferdinand Gregorovius , Kampf saw his magnum opus in a historical-critical edition of his preserved correspondence. The plan failed.
