Pauliina Lerche (born March 19, 1974 in Rääkkylä , Finland , as Pauliina Luukanen ) is a Finnish musician ( vocals , accordion , kantele , violin , deltar ) and composer.

She took violin lessons at the age of four. At the age of nine she was one of the founding members of the Finnish band Värttinä . After attending the Sibelius Academy in Kuopio for three years , she enrolled at the Folk Music Institute of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki . She completed these studies in 2002.

Pauliina Lerche has been married to the Finnish jazz musician Peter Lerche since 2000 and, in addition to her solo career, was and is involved in numerous music projects:

  • Värttinä 1983–1989
  • Sivuluisu 1990–1993 (folk music band during their college days in Kuopio, which released the single Heilans aatto / Veret in 1992)
  • Mimmit 1993–2001 and since 2008 (children's music project, together with her sister Hannamari Luukanen, until 2001 as a quartet)
  • Burlakat since 1994 (folk / folk rock band singing exclusively in the Karelian language)
  • Vesa-Matti Loiri Band since 2002 (as a replacement for Maria Kalaniemi )
  • Kriya since 2003 (Finnish-Indian ensemble)
  • Hector Acoustic Quartet since 2004
