Paulinus Merry

Paulinus Fröhlich (born January 13, 1903 in Gut Metzenhof , † November 9, 1986 in Wolnzach ) was a German Roman Catholic pastor and local researcher .

Life

Paulinus Fröhlich was born as one of five children in the inn of the Metzenhof estate near Kirchenthumbach. He spent his childhood in Kirchenthumbach . He attended the Humanist Gymnasium in Regensburg , where he graduated from high school in 1924. On June 29, 1927, he was ordained a priest in Regensburg by Bishop Michael Buchberger .

From 1935 to 1954 Paulinus Fröhlich was pastor of Weiding . He was a declared opponent of National Socialism . Because of this attitude, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Amberg court in 1943 .

From 1954 until his death Paulinus Fröhlich was pastor in Wolnzach. There he made a special contribution to the kindergarten, the parish church and local history research. When the old kindergarten in Wolnzach was demolished in 1962 because it was in disrepair, the village was unable to establish a new kindergarten for financial reasons. Paulinus Fröhlich built a new kindergarten without subsidies from public funds.

In 1962 Paulinus Fröhlich was made an honorary citizen of Wolnzach. In addition, a street in Wolnzach was named after him.

In addition to his work as a parish priest and pastor, Paulinus Fröhlich dealt with local history research and wrote local chronicles of Kirchenthumbach, Weiding and Wolnzach:
