Paul Lieger

Paulus Lieger OSB (born March 7, 1865 in Grafenberg , Lower Austria ; † December 21, 1944 in Vienna ; actually Joseph Lieger ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic schoolboy .

Life

After studying high school in Horn , Lieger joined the Scots Abbey in Vienna in 1886 . He first studied theology at the University of Vienna and was ordained a priest in 1891. After studying classical philology , he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. After he had passed the teaching examination in 1897, he taught Latin and Greek at the Schottengymnasium from 1898 to 1937 .

Scientifically, Lieger worked primarily in the field of Greek and Latin metrics . He also worked as a translator. From 1915 he was a court interpreter for Latin. His translation of the Roman Ritual into German gained importance .
