Pawel Korosteljow began his career as a cross-country skier, in December 2001 he contested his first FIS race in Krasnogorsk , two years later in the same place his first race in the Continental Cup , he was 39th in this freestyle race over 15 km. Shortly before the 2006 Winter Olympics , he celebrated his World Cup debut in the free style sprint race in Davos , but with 56th place without a special result. The next day he stayed classically pale with rank 53 even over 15 km. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the Olympic Games and was used there in the sprint, he was eliminated as 34th in the qualification and was thus the weakest Russian. Another start in the World Cup in January 2007 at the sprint in Rybinsk was his last World Cup race among cross-country skiers. At the end of the 2006/2007 season he switched to biathlon, his first international start was in the 2008 European Cup . Already in his third appearance, the sprint in Valromey-Retord , he was tenth, in the pursuit he improved to ninth place. The other races only brought results in the midfield. He took his first podium places in Bansko, Bulgaria, in February 2009, both in the sprint and in the pursuit he only had to admit defeat to his compatriot Andrei Prokunin , but already at the last station of the winter only mediocre results jumped out for him. Together with Alexejew, Kuselew and Prokunin he finished third in the relay competition of the Russian Championships in Uwat . In the 2010 Olympic winter, Korosteljow himself was no longer active, but was a ski technician for the biathletes at the Olympic Games in Vancouver .
