Pavel Olschewski

Pawel Olschewski , born as Paweł Olszewski , (born March 2, 1962 in Krotoszyn ) is a former Polish - German swimmer and modern pentathlete .

Pawel Olschewski was a swimmer at the beginning of his sporting career. The 1.82 m tall and 78 kg heavy athlete barely missed qualifying for the 1980 Summer Olympics over 100 m freestyle . In addition to swimming, Olschewski began with the modern pentathlon at the Lumel Zielona Góra club in Grünberg in Silesia . Together with Piotr Maciaszczyk and Maciej Czyżowicz , he won the silver medal in the junior competition of the pre-Olympic Games in Coto de Caza , the venue for the 1984 Olympic competitions . He qualified for the Games, but could not participate because of the Olympic boycott of the Eastern Bloc countries . He won his only Polish championship in 1987, 1983, 1984 and 1986, where he finished third. In 1988 Olschewski left Poland and became a German citizen. He joined the police SV Berlin in Berlin , where he trained with Rudi Trost. In 1990 he became German champion, in 1992 he won the runner- up behind Ulrich Czermak . The bronze medal with the relay at the World Championship in Modern Pentathlon 1991 in San Antonio in the line-up of Olschewski, Motchebon , Czermak was his greatest international success. Olschewski was a participant in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. In the individual competition he was 49 when his former compatriot Arkadiusz Skrzypaszek won . In swimming he collected the most points, fencing and riding were his weakest disciplines in this competition. With the team, consisting of Dirk Knappheide , Uli Czermak and Olschewski, he finished eleventh, where Poland won with his former relay partner Maciej Czyżowicz.

Olschewski is a physiotherapist by profession , he is married and has two children.
