Maciej Czyżowicz (born January 28, 1962 in Stettin ) is a former Polish pentathlete .

Career

Czyżowicz took part in three Olympic Games . In his Olympic debut in Seoul in 1988 , he finished 15th in the individual and ninth in the team classification. In Barcelona in 1992 he could not improve in the individual , he reached 19th place. With the Polish team, which included Dariusz Goździak and Arkadiusz Skrzypaszek , he was Olympic champion . The third participation, 1996 in Atlanta , he finished in the singles on the 27th place.

At world championships he had already achieved third place in 1990 as part of this team around him, Goździak and Skrzypaszek, and won the runner-up world championship in 1991 . In 1991 he was also runner-up in the relay world championship. In 1994 he repeated this success with the relay and ultimately won his first world title in this discipline in the following year . In 1995, he also secured another bronze medal in the team competition. He managed to defend his title in 1996 with the relay.
