The Werderobst panorama trail is a 15 km long educational trail that opens up the southern region of the Zauche , a geological plateau around the town of Werder (Havel) in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in the state of Brandenburg . The focus is on fruit growing, which is known for the region .

History and labeling

A first section starting in Petzow was built between 2004 and 2005. The construction of the second section was delayed by eight years due to several land regulation procedures . On December 18, 2013, the last section was opened to the public in Derwitz. The route is marked with a red apple on dark green information boards.

The northern entry point to the nature trail is in the community of Groß Kreutz . From there the path leads east to the district of Krielow and there in a southerly direction to Derwitz, a district of the city of Werder (Havel). Between the two districts lies the Windmühlenberg , on which a monument has been commemorating Otto Lilienthal since September 21, 1991 . He took on the eastern, forested in the 21st century, peaks mountain his first gliding flights. There is also the first of several teaching boards, which in this case reports on Lilienthal's flight attempts in the region.

In Derwitz, the path leads along the Derwitz village church and the Lilienthal Museum, then crosses Bundesstraße 1 and Bundesautobahn 10 and runs from there in a south-easterly direction via the Plötzin district out onto the plateau. It is mainly used for commercial fruit growing. Since the spring of 2006, a total of eight historic apple varieties have been growing on around 6,500 m² on a newly created orchard along the Panoramaweg, including the Schöne from Boskoop , the Rote Boskoop and the Goldrenette Freiherr von Berlepsch . An educational board provides information about similarities and differences between the varieties.

The hiker reaches the Glindow district via a high path . There is a museum there that is reminiscent of the brickworks in the region. In the further course, the path also crosses the Glindow Alps , which were created as spoil heaps by the clay mining and are designated as a nature reserve.

At the southern point of the nature trail, the hiker arrives at Petzow , another district of Werder (Havel). On the one hand there is the Petzow Castle , as well as the Petzow village church built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel . In Petzow, the path branches off to the north between the Glindower See and the Havel , crosses Bundesstraße 1 again and ends on the island in Werder (Havel). There is a connection to the Havel cycle path .
