Ivan Kostjantynowytsch Derjuhin ( Ukrainian Іван Костянтинович Дерюгін ; born November 25, 1928 in Smijiw , Ukrainian SSR ; † January 10, 1996 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was a Soviet pentathlete .
Career
Derjuhin joined the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 in individual and team competition. He finished the individual in ninth place. With the team, to which Igor Novikow and Alexander Tarasov belonged in addition to Derjuhin , he became Olympic champion .
With the team he also became world champion in 1961 . In the individual, he also won the title of vice world champion.
After his sports career, Derjuhin worked as a teacher. His wife Albina was national coach of the Soviet rhythmic gymnastics squad for several years , their daughter Iryna was multiple world champion in this sport.
