The Pacific vases screw ( Vasum turbinellus ) is a snail from the family of turbinellidae (genus Vasum ) formed in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean is widespread. It feeds mainly on polychaetes and sipunculids .
features
The snail shell of Vasum turbinellus , which is about 9 cm in size in fully grown snails, has a low thread, the circumferences of which are sculptured on the shoulder with a spiral series of small and large blunt, often eroded spines. The spindle has 5 to 6 folds. The surface of the shell is white with brown spots, the inside of the case mouth is yellowish white, the outer lip of the case mouth with black spots.
Distribution and occurrence
Vasum turbinellus is common in the Indo-Pacific . Their distribution area in the Pacific Ocean extends to Polynesia , Japan and Australia . It lives in the Indian Ocean on the coast of East Africa on reefs in the lower areas of the intertidal zone.

According to investigations on 280 individuals of Vasum turbinellus from different localities, around 50% of the prey animals are polychrome and 50% injection worms , with polychaetes of the Chaetopteridae family making up around 20% of all prey animals in most places , but representatives of the Eunicidae and Terebellidae families also often belong to the Snails are eaten.
